Next to Normal is a Pulitzer Prize-winning musical about mental illness, grief, and the toll these traumas can take on a family. Using humor, illusion, and a full rock band, the musical chronicles the ups and downs of the Goodman family, a "perfect loving family" with deep wounds that have been left unaddressed too long.

Next to Normal was presented as a Senior Capstone Project for Jacqueline Mallene and Annika Perez-Krikorian, in fulfillment of the Theatre Arts major at Gonzaga University. It was jointly sponsored by The Center for Cura Personalis, the student wellness department on campus. The staged reading featured an all-student cast, as well as an all-student creative team.
